Large, imposing but conventional CBD, 8 stories high without external fire escapes. It appears to be the only Art Deco building designed by architect Berlinger who, from an internet search, had a very long and varied career. Born 1888 the record includes from 1928 the Windsor Theater Brooklyn, since demolished, a Masonic Temple in Dumont, N.J., First Presbyterian Church Community Bldg, New Brunswick, N.J., Fenway Country Club, White Plains, of which he was a member, renovation of synagogue Kehilath Jeshurun, on 85th Street in the 1940s, addition of 4 stories and remodeling of 952 5th Avenue in 1947 (Avery plans show a full floor apartment with 2 maid's rooms!) and from 1950, NYCHA Lexington Houses, 4 building typical styleless public housing project at 98/99th streets from Park to Third Avenue. The full gamut of building types, religions and socio-economic strata!
