- 1936 is no longer the era of Early Deco, but perhaps this building is the apothesis of the style. The straightforward facade is tasteful, but the loss of the parapet robs it of drama. The lobby, however, is exquisite. Uniquely patterned terrazzo floors, intricately laid floor tiles, marble details, exuberant moldings, geometric wall tiles (some also seen at nearby 2977 Bainbridge Avenue), etched glass windows, brass railings and corner guards, original doors, and the wonderful chrome mailboxes are the makings of a North Bronx jewelbox.
